The Association for Technology and Structures in Agriculture (KTBL) is a registered association to which belong about 400 members. KTBL is promoted by the German Federal Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Consumer Protection. The headquarter resides in Darmstadt, where a staff of approx. 60 supports various areas of activity. We coordinate about 50 work groups, with 8-12 honorary volunteered experts. The mandated mission of KTBL is technology transfer.

Our tasks are

• to acquire and dissiminate planning basis for the agriculture
• risk-benefit assessment for new technologies
• to describe state of the art and define good working practice in agriculture
• to cooperate in the elaboration of national and international regulations concerning agriculture and environment
• to consort conflicting interests
• to provide a forum for scientists, consultants, administrators, agriculturalists and representatives of trade and industry
• to initiate and coordinate research
